Wilderness

Last night the suburbs of an English city were turned momentarily into the remote sanctuary of an untouched wilderness.

As we walked along the riverside path a Tawny Owl swooped down before us in the light of the setting sun.

It graced us with its presence for what felt like minutes. Gliding low over the tall grass, eventually dropping down on top of it’s oblivious prey, before taking to the summer sky once again.

We were less than a five minute drive from the centre of the bustling city, and yet here we were; a hovering kestrel in the sky behind us and a breath-takingly stunning owl gliding before us.

A private show, for our eyes only.

The beauty of nature reminds us that she’s here, grabbing our attention one by one.

Waiting to be rediscovered.
